Harvest 2024 Completed at Château de Rouffiac!

The 2024 harvest is now complete! From mid-September to mid-October, our dedicated team handpicked every grape, following traditional methods. This year, volumes are exceptionally low, a reality shared by many winemakers in the Lot Valley. Several factors contributed to this:

  • Late frost: From April 19 to 23, a severe frost affected the already developed buds, following an unusually mild winter.
  • Heavy rainfall: Since the 2023 harvest, we’ve recorded nearly 1200 mm of rain. This persistent humidity encouraged the spread of vine diseases.

Fermentations are now underway for our three wine varieties: white, rosé, and Cahors (red).

  • For the white, we are crafting a blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, with part of the wine fermenting in acacia barrels for added aromatic complexity.
  • For the rosé, some of our Malbec grapes were directly pressed to create a fresh and expressive Malbec rosé.
  • For the red, we’re preparing our Cahors wines, including fruity styles as well as more concentrated cuvées, ideal for aging in terracotta jars.

Although quantities are limited, the quality of this vintage promises to be remarkable, with a finesse that perfectly captures the unique character of this year.

Thanks to the whole team !
