Plantations : new developments in the vineyard

After taking over the Château in December 2022, we identified vines in very poor condition that needed to be restructured as a priority. These included Malbec, Tannat, and Merlot vines with a very high rate of missing or dead plants. It was therefore planned to uproot and replant them.

This season has been very wet, with an exceptional rainfall total of 1000 mm since the 2023 harvest. These conditions forced us to postpone the vine plantings, which are usually done at the end of April, to May, and then to June when the soils were finally dry enough.

The result? About 2 hectares replanted with a high-quality variant of Malbec, and 2 hectares replanted with a multi-resistant white grape variety, NATHY® Sauvignac. The Malbec will contribute partly to our Cahors appellation wines and partly to our rosé. The Sauvignac will be used for an IGP Côtes du Lot white wine. But first, a few years of careful attention and patience!
